General Acupuncture FAQs:

Does it hurt?

Acupuncture can be virtually painless. Some people are more sensitive than others. The needle insertion may or may not hurt for a brief moment.However what I can tell you is that 99% of our patients end up taking a nap while receiving acupuncture treatment!


What does acupuncture do?

It reduces pain, reduces inflammation and promotes homeostatic balance.

It works with your body to promote healing in the local area of needle insertion, and it also has centrual;y acting effects on the nervous system, giving it a whole person powerful effect.


How many treatments do I need to feel better?

Some people feel better after 1 treatment. Most people need a series of treatments to fell better and stay better. Typical treatment plans are 2x per weeks for 3 weeks or weekly for 4-8 weeks.

Do you take insurance?
We do not take insurance. If you are a veteran receiving care through the VA click here (veterans page).


How does a first visit work?
You will fill out your medical history and the main reasons you are seeking treatment. Then one of our board certified acupuncturists will (positioning phrasing). You are always welcome to ask questions. We love when people are engaged with their care. Then you will receive an acupuncture treatment. Needles are retained between 15-45 minutes depending on what will be the most effective in each case. Then all the needles are removed and you feel better! You are then given a treatment plan and any herbal or supplement recommendations. Then our schedules will be happy to help you make any follow up appointments.
