Hope for Fibromyalgia

When you wake up in a panic every morning because you know you are going to be in pain, but you are terrified to find out where. When you have three good days in a row, and start to get your hopes up, only to have that hope dashed when you wake in excruciating pain from your knees to your toes. When you are tired of canceling plans with friends, so you give up and stop making any. When you feel your life’s energy has been sucked out, and you don't even remember what you were like before the debilitating exhaustion set in.

This is the devastating reality of those living with fibromyalgia. A relatively new diagnosis, it encompasses pain all over the body, coupled with fatigue and trouble sleeping. Mostly affecting women this condition has been considered incurable and leaves those suffering with fibromyalgia few options.

One such woman was Barbara, a lifelong RN who had retired to Cresswind, in Peachtree City. Barbara dreamed of travel and a care free retirement. Unfortunately, her dream was dashed when her mother fell ill and she became her primary caretaker.

“I was always doing everything for everybody else and I didn't have much time for me.” Recounts Barbara. “When my mother passed away in 2020, that's when the real pain set in.”

Often called the caretakers disease, fibromyalgia hits when people are at their lowest. When they haven't filled up their own cup, for years, and are running on cortisol and coffee.

“I had days when I couldn't even get out of bed. I have a high pain tolerance, and this pain is terrible, because it doesn't let up.” Barbara shares.

That was the case until she found Dr. Harris Frank.

“I was at the end of my rope when I made up my mind to try acupuncture.” Barbara remembers “I have thoroughly enjoyed my treatments and how the entire team is dedicated to building me back up.”

“This summer I got to take my dream trip to France. I was able to walk through Paris, and the vineyards in Provence. I had dreamed of travel for so long, and I was so relieved to never miss a tour day due to pain or exhaustion. I am living my life again and couldn't be happier.” Barbara shares.
